TLDR Hypochlorous acid spray improves wound healing and reduces redness and itching in hair transplant surgery.
The study evaluated the efficacy of stabilized, super-oxidized hypochlorous acid (HOCl) in hair transplant surgical procedures. 35 patients were enrolled in the study, and surgeons used a HOCl spray during the procedure and patients were given a ten-day supply for postoperative care. The results showed that 56% of patients had a significant reduction in erythema compared to their current wound healing regimen, and 54% had significant improvement of pruritus. The compliance rating was 97% among patients, and there were no incidences of tissue necrosis. The study concluded that topical, stabilized hypochlorous spray represents a major advance in wound cleansing and healing in hair restoration surgery.
