TLDR A 17-year-old boy with Temporal Triangular Alopecia successfully grew new hair after a hair restoration surgery using follicular unit transplantation.
In 2009, a 17-year-old Caucasian male with Temporal Triangular Alopecia (TTA) underwent successful treatment using follicular unit transplantation, a hair restoration surgery. A strip measuring 3.5 x 1.5 cm was harvested from the occipital donor area, yielding 325 follicular units or 650 hairs. These grafts were placed in the TTA lesion at a density of 46 grafts/cm². Four months post-surgery, new hair growth was observed in the recipient area. The patient was satisfied with the outcome and did not seek further treatment. This case marked the first reported successful treatment of TTA using follicular unit transplantation, suggesting its potential as an effective treatment option for TTA.
