TLDR Hair transplant surgery effectively treated a specific type of hair loss and is recommended as a primary treatment option.
In 2011, a case report detailed the successful treatment of bilateral temporal triangular alopecia (TTA) associated with Phakomatosis Pigmentovascularis Type IV using follicular unit transplantation (FUT). A 25-year-old Caucasian male with TTA since childhood underwent two sessions of FUT one year apart, with a total of 1449 follicular units transplanted. The patient experienced no postoperative complications and was satisfied with the results, which were maintained over a six-year follow-up period. The case report concluded that FUT is an effective and successful treatment modality for TTA and should be considered a first-line treatment option for this type of alopecia.
