TLDR Finasteride reduces certain hormone levels to treat prostate issues.
The study focused on the molecular properties of finasteride, a 5α-reductase enzyme inhibitor used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) by reducing serum dihydrotestosterone and prostatic specific antigen levels while increasing blood testosterone concentration. Despite its widespread use, there was limited information on its molecular characteristics. The research utilized PM3 methods of HyperCam 8.0 to calculate the total energy, net charge, and vibrational mode of melatonin to better understand finasteride's characteristics.
