TLDR Good medication adherence improves quality of life in subclinical thyroid disorder patients.
The study assessed 142 patients with subclinical thyroid disorders to evaluate prescription patterns, medication adherence, quality of life, and associated comorbidities. It found that patients with comorbidities such as hypertension, diabetes, renal disorders, and cardiovascular issues were prevalent, with renal diseases being particularly common. Hair loss/alopecia was also reported among some patients. The prescription pattern indicated that most patients with subclinical hypothyroidism were prescribed levothyroxine 25 mcg, while those with subclinical hyperthyroidism received carbimazole 10 mg. The study concluded that high medication adherence was associated with a good quality of life, whereas poor adherence correlated with a poor quality of life, highlighting the significant relationship between medication adherence and quality of life in these patients.
