TLDR The programme aimed to improve heart health in women with PCOS, but its impact on physical activity was unclear after three months.
The study aimed to develop a structured education programme, called SUCCESS, for women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) to improve cardiovascular risk factors. It found that women with PCOS, particularly those who are overweight or obese, have a higher risk of cardiovascular issues compared to the general female population. The programme was well-received by participants, who expressed significant body image concerns. However, the programme did not increase participants' step count after three months. Despite the lack of immediate positive results, the study highlighted the need for tailored education programmes for women with PCOS and suggested that further evaluation at 12 months would determine the programme's effectiveness and potential for adaptation.
