In 2019, researchers from the Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis at P. Rami Reddy Memorial College of Pharmacy in Andhra Pradesh, India, developed and validated a simple, precise, accurate, and economical UV spectrophotometric method for estimating Minoxidil in tablet dosage form. The method used 0.1N HCl as a solvent and found that Minoxidil shows maximum absorbance at 279.4nm. The drug showed linearity from the concentration range of 1-6µg/ml and a correlation coefficient of 0.9992. The method was statistically validated for precision, accuracy, ruggedness, robustness, the limit of detection, and quantitation as per the ICH guidelines. The researchers concluded that this method could be successfully applied for routine analysis of Minoxidil in bulk and tablet dosage form.
