TLDR Sodium valproate caused vomiting in 20% of children under 2 years old, with other side effects like hair loss and loss of appetite also noted.
The study at M Abdur Rahim Medical College in Dinajpur, Bangladesh, investigated the side effects of sodium valproate in 60 children under 2 years old with epilepsy. The most common side effect was vomiting (20%), followed by hair loss and loss of appetite (10% each). No cases of pancreatitis or hepatic impairment were observed. The study concluded that vomiting was the most significant side effect, consistent with other studies, and emphasized the need for further research due to the small sample size and single-center design.
