TLDR Social media videos on laryngeal cancer need better quality and professional input.
This study analyzed 248 videos on laryngeal carcinoma from YouTube, Bilibili, and TikTok, finding that YouTube videos were of the highest quality, particularly those produced by professionals. TikTok videos, while engaging, lacked depth and scored lowest in actionability. Bilibili's lenient certification led to more non-professional content, raising quality concerns. The study emphasizes the need for improved quality in online medical videos and suggests translating high-quality YouTube content for Chinese platforms, as well as enhancing platform oversight and algorithm optimization to ensure accurate public health information.
