TLDR Smoking can cause yellowing of upper lip hair.
The study described the clinical features of "smoker's mustache," a condition characterized by tobacco-associated yellow discoloration of the upper lip hair in men. The research involved five men and found that the condition was asymptomatic and typically discovered incidentally, as patients were generally unaware of it. In 60% of the cases, additional tobacco-related discoloration was observed on the distal soft tissue and/or nails of the fingers. The study suggested that quitting smoking might lead to the spontaneous resolution of the discoloration, although all participants chose to continue smoking.
