TLDR Accurate ANA testing is crucial for early lupus diagnosis and treatment.
A 20-year-old woman was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) after presenting with symptoms such as fatigue, fever, joint pain, and hair loss. Laboratory tests showed anemia and a positive antinuclear antibody (ANA) test with a titer of 1:1000, which met the EULAR/ACR criteria for SLE diagnosis. The patient was treated with corticosteroids, leading to clinical improvement. This case underscores the importance of interpreting ANA titers and patterns accurately for early SLE detection and highlights the role of specific autoantibody profiling in achieving a precise diagnosis.
