TLDR SLE and DM can coexist but are rare and need careful evaluation.
Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and Diabetes Mellitus (DM) can coexist, presenting a complex clinical picture that requires careful evaluation. A case of a 14-year-old female with symptoms of both SLE and DM, including joint pain, hair loss, blurred vision, and significant weight loss, highlights the overlapping features of these diseases. Laboratory results showed hyperglycemia, positive antinuclear antibodies, and dyslipidemia, among other findings. The study concludes that the coexistence of SLE and DM is rare and necessitates thorough diagnostic and prognostic assessments.
