TLDR Black patients have unique skin conditions that require specific knowledge for proper treatment.
The document discussed various dermatologic problems specific to black patients, which could be confusing for practitioners unfamiliar with treating this demographic. Conditions highlighted included postinflammatory hypopigmentation and hyperpigmentation, pseudofolliculitis of the beard, keloids, keloidal folliculitis, dermatosis papulosa nigra, traumatic marginal alopecia, and perifolliculitis abscedens et suffodiens capitis. It also noted that black skin has the same number of melanocytes as other races, but the pigment particles (melanosomes) are larger and separately dispersed.
