TLDR Single-layer closure is as effective as multiple-layer closure, with shorter surgery time and lower cost.
This study compared single-layer and multiple-layer wound closures in 100 patients undergoing tympanoplasty surgery for chronic suppurative otitis media. The findings indicated that single-layer closure was as effective as multiple-layer closure. Additionally, single-layer closure had the advantages of reduced surgery duration and lower overall cost.
