TLDR Silicon can improve skin and hair health, but more research is needed.
Silicon, the second most abundant element on Earth, played a crucial role in skin and hair health by enhancing collagen synthesis and improving hair strength and brightness. The study highlighted the growing interest in silicon dietary supplements to boost blood levels and improve skin and hair appearance. It noted significant variations in silicon bioavailability among different supplement forms, with orthosilicic acid (OSA) showing the highest bioavailability. Despite these findings, the study emphasized the need for more clinical research to evaluate the safety and efficacy of these supplements.
