TLDR Teprotumumab for thyroid eye disease commonly causes fatigue, brittle nails, dry eyes, hair loss, muscle spasms, and dry mouth, with rare serious events like blood clots.
This retrospective observational case series reviewed side effects and adverse events in thyroid eye disease (TED) patients treated with teprotumumab at a single center from February 2020 to July 2023. Common side effects included fatigue, brittle nails, dry eye symptoms, hair loss, muscle spasms, and dry mouth. Significant adverse events were rare, with only two cases of blood clots and one case of pulmonary embolism reported. This study is the first to document patient-reported side effects and adverse events associated with teprotumumab use in TED patients.
