TLDR COVID-19 can cause various skin issues, but long-term skin problems are rare.
This review assessed the impact of COVID-19 on skin health by analyzing 109 articles from the PubMed database. It identified six frequently reported clinical patterns of skin manifestations associated with COVID-19. However, it did not find specific types of skin lesions that persist long-term, as such cases are rare. The pandemic has posed challenges for dermatologists, with various cutaneous side effects from SARS-CoV-2 treatments being reported. Despite ongoing reports of new clinical presentations, the pathophysiological mechanisms and evolution of these skin manifestations remain largely unknown.
