TLDR COVID-19 can cause skin issues like rashes and hair loss, which may last even after recovery.
The narrative review discusses the dermatological findings commonly associated with SARS-CoV-2 infection. The COVID-19 pandemic, while primarily known for affecting the respiratory tract, has also been linked to an increase in skin-related findings among infected patients. Manifestations such as rashes, erythemas, purpuras, acral lesions, and telogen effluvium (hair loss) have been observed. These manifestations are described as a result of the immune response mechanisms triggered by the virus and do not have a unique pattern of presentation. They appear to constitute a self-limiting clinical picture, treatable with medication, but can also persist or appear after the infection period, accentuating psychological impacts on patients. More studies are needed to determine the pattern of skin manifestation of COVID-19 and its relationship with the patient's clinical picture.
