TLDR Secukinumab and acitretin together may quickly and effectively treat severe generalized pustular psoriasis.
This case report describes a 49-year-old woman with ankylosing spondylitis and mild scalp psoriasis who developed generalized pustular psoriasis and alopecia after adalimumab therapy. Her condition improved significantly with a combination of secukinumab and acitretin, achieving almost complete clearance of psoriasis and improvement in alopecia and AS symptoms within 8 weeks. The report suggests that this combination therapy may be an effective and rapid treatment option for severe GPP, especially when induced by TNF-α inhibitors like adalimumab, with minimal adverse effects. However, the authors highlight the need for larger, randomized controlled studies to confirm these findings.
