TLDR Poor hair health increases stress and motivates scalp care, while visible hair changes drive care behaviors more than scalp condition.
This study surveyed 258 adults aged 20-39 to examine how scalp and hair conditions and hair loss stress affect scalp care behaviors. It found that poor scalp and hair health increases stress related to hair loss, which in turn encourages individuals to engage in scalp care activities. Notably, hair condition significantly influenced care behaviors, while scalp condition did not, suggesting that visible hair changes are stronger motivators for care. The study emphasizes the need for customized scalp-hair care programs that include psychological support, early diagnosis, and educational initiatives to enhance awareness of scalp and hair health in young adults.
