Dermatosis of Scalp and Hair Disorder: An Observational Study in a Hilly State of North-East India

    TLDR The most common scalp problems in Sikkim were seborrheic dermatitis, androgenetic alopecia, and alopecia areata.
    This observational study conducted over a period of 1 year and 5 months from August 2019 to November 2020, included 76 patients (47 males and 29 females) who visited the dermatology OPD of SMIMS, Sikkim. The study aimed to observe the clinical profile of scalp dermatosis and hair disorder. The results showed 18 different dermatoses, with the most common being seborrheic dermatitis (18.4%), followed by androgenetic alopecia (17%), and alopecia areata (15%). The study provides an overview of the most common scalp disorders observed in the region.
