TLDR Ivermectin and sulfur effectively treated the cat's scabies and sporotrichosis in 14 days.
The case report discusses the treatment of a three-month-old female cat named Miya, suffering from scabies and sporotrichosis, using ivermectin injections and sulfur baths. The cat exhibited symptoms such as itching, skin thickening, hair loss, and dandruff, with a pruritus score of 7/10. Diagnostic tests confirmed the presence of Notoedres cati mites and Sporothrix spp. spores, along with normocytic normochromic anemia. The treatment regimen also included antihistamines and supplements. After 14 days, the cat showed significant improvement, with the resolution of hyperkeratosis, scaling, crusts, and flakes, although alopecia on the ear pinna persisted. The cat's pruritus resolved, appetite improved, and mucous membranes returned to a healthy pink color. The report concludes that the 14-day treatment was effective, and emphasizes the importance of maintaining a clean environment to prevent reinfection.
