TLDR Glucocorticoid treatment improved symptoms in a girl with Satoyoshi disease.
A 15-year-old girl with generalized komuragaeri disease, also known as Satoyoshi disease, experienced significant improvement in symptoms after treatment with glucocorticoids. This rare disorder, characterized by painful muscle spasms, alopecia, diarrhea, and endocrine issues, showed responsiveness to glucocorticoid therapy, suggesting an autoimmune component. The patient's muscle spasms decreased and eventually disappeared, hair growth resumed, orthostatic hypotension resolved, and menstruation became regular over several months of treatment. The study highlighted the potential autoimmune nature of the disease due to the positive response to glucocorticoids.
