TLDR Mother-in-law's tongue leaf extract at 20% concentration significantly promotes hair growth in male rabbits.
The study investigated the hair growth effects of mother-in-law's tongue leaf extract (Sanseviera Trifasciata Prain) on male rabbits (Lepus nigricollis). The extract was prepared using a maceration method with 96% ethanol and tested at concentrations of 10%, 15%, and 20%. Hair growth was measured by counting 6 strands of the longest hair in each section at intervals over 28 days and by weighing the hair on day 28. The results indicated that the 20% concentration of the extract significantly promoted hair growth, with effectiveness comparable to the positive control. The presence of saponins, alkaloids, and flavonoids in the plant may contribute to its hair growth-promoting properties.
