TLDR Robotic hair restoration is a safe, efficient alternative to manual hair transplant, best for men with dark, thick hair and skin, requiring sufficient donor hair and postoperative care.
Robotic hair restoration is a safe and efficient procedure that provides similar outcomes to manual techniques, with ideal candidates being male patients with dark, thick hair and thick skin. The procedure is minimally invasive and typically performed on an outpatient basis. The ARTAS Robotic System is the most commonly used device for this procedure, with a graft transection rate of less than 4%. Patients must have enough donor density in the posterior and lateral scalp, typically ranging from 5000 to 7500 follicular units, with about 2500 to 3000 units being able to be harvested and grafted in one day. Postoperative care and continuing medical therapy for remaining hair are essential for long-term results. The procedure may be more suitable for patients who wear their hair short and wish to avoid the linear scar from Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT).
