Keedari thailam, a polyherbal Siddha formulation, is traditionally used for treating puzhuvettu, which corresponds to alopecia areata in conventional medicine. The formulation includes Poduthalai (Phyla nodiflora Linn), elumichai (Citrus limon Linn), nallennai (sesame oil), and milagu (Piper nigrum Linn). Due to the adverse effects of conventional treatments, there is a growing interest in traditional medicines for alopecia management. This review compiles data on the actions, phytochemistry, and pharmacological studies of keedari thailam's ingredients, revealing their antimicrobial, antifungal, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anticancer, and antidiabetic properties, thus providing scientific validation for its therapeutic benefits.
