TLDR People with androgenic alopecia (AGA) have a higher chance of getting metabolic syndrome.
This systematic review and meta-analysis examined the association between androgenic alopecia (AGA) and metabolic syndrome. The analysis found a significant correlation between AGA and metabolic syndrome. Several studies included in the review showed that the probability of metabolic syndrome was higher in individuals with AGA compared to those without AGA. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome ranged from 43% to 51% in the AGA groups and 20% to 28% in the healthy groups. These findings suggest that AGA may be a risk factor for metabolic syndrome. Early detection of metabolic syndrome in individuals with AGA could be helpful in preventing cardiovascular diseases.
