TLDR Topical diphencyprone effectively treated a 9-year-old boy's alopecia areata with fewer side effects.
Alopecia areata (AA) is an autoimmune disorder causing hair loss, with an unpredictable course and unclear etiology. This case report describes a 9-year-old boy with diffuse AA who was treated with topical diphencyprone (DPCP) after other treatments failed. The treatment was effective, easy to administer, and had fewer side effects, making it a preferable option for pediatric patients. The report emphasizes the importance of individualized treatment to improve the quality of life and prevent psychological impairments in children with AA.
