TLDR Women with pituitary adenomas often have reproductive issues, like irregular periods and trouble getting pregnant, but not always breast milk production without pregnancy.
The study involved 36 women of childbearing age with pituitary adenomas and aimed to evaluate the prevalence of reproductive system disorders among them. It was found that over half of the participants had symptoms of reproductive dysfunction, primarily menstrual irregularities and infertility. Lactorrhea was not as commonly associated with the adenomas, even when hyperprolactinemia was present. Ultrasound examinations showed that all examined patients had morphological changes indicative of polycystic ovary syndrome. The study concluded that symptoms of reproductive dysfunction are common in women with pituitary adenomas, but the occurrence of lactorrhea is not a strong indicator of these tumors.
