TLDR A new keratin treatment can strengthen and protect aging hair.
A study presented at the IFSCC Congress 2008 developed a method to simulate the aging effects on human hair keratin caused by shampooing, blow drying, and sunlight, equivalent to 100 Central European summer days, in just 5 days. Stress-strain measurements indicated significant weakening of hair structure due to these aging effects. A new keratin active, containing peptides identical to those in human hair, was created and shown to penetrate deeply into cortex cells, as demonstrated by fluorescence microscopy. This keratin active successfully prevented aging damage by strengthening the hair structure.
