TLDR Cabergoline helped a boy with Cushing disease get better after surgery and radiotherapy didn't work.
A 12-year-old boy with persistent Cushing disease (CD) after transsphenoidal surgery (TSS) and radiotherapy (RT) achieved marked clinical and biochemical remission with short-term cabergoline treatment. Despite initial treatments, the patient continued to exhibit symptoms of CD, but after 3 months on cabergoline, significant improvements were observed, including weight loss and decreased cortisol levels. However, discontinuation of cabergoline led to a recurrence of CD, suggesting the remission was due to the drug rather than RT. This case highlighted cabergoline as a potentially effective option for inducing remission in uncured CD patients post-TSS and RT.
