TLDR A diabetic cat with another gland issue got better after treatment with cabergoline, no longer needing insulin.
The document discusses a case of a 7-year-old domestic shorthair cat diagnosed with diabetes mellitus and hyperadrenocorticism (HAC) that showed remission from diabetes after being treated with cabergoline. Initially, the cat's diabetes was not well controlled with insulin and trilostane. However, after the introduction of cabergoline, the cat's blood glucose levels normalized and insulin was no longer required, indicating diabetes remission. The cat also showed clinical improvements, including hair regrowth in alopecic areas. This is the first reported case of diabetic remission in a cat with HAC after cabergoline treatment. The study suggests that cabergoline could be a potential treatment for diabetes in cats with pituitary-dependent hyperadrenocorticism (PDH), and recommends further research with different protocols and a larger number of cases.
