TLDR Computer-aided imaging system accurately measures baldness in Chinese women with hair loss.
The study developed a computer-aided imaging system (CAIS) to calculate baldness quantitatively in Chinese women with female pattern hair loss (FPHL). The results showed that the values of the calculated balding area (CBA) measured by the CAIS correlated with clinical grading of Savin scale, and may be more precise and efficient to evaluate the severity of FPHL. The authors hope this system can also be applied to other diseases of hair loss and skin disorders, leading to the development of more refined and reliable imaging systems in the dermatologic field.
