TLDR Alopecia areata and androgenetic alopecia affect quality of life similarly.
The study compared the quality of life of individuals with alopecia areata (AA) and androgenetic alopecia (AGA) using the Hair Specific Skindex-29 questionnaire. The scores for emotions, symptoms, and functioning were similar between the two groups, but those with AA had a slightly higher score for disease severity. The study suggests that the impact on quality of life is similar for both types of hair loss.
