TLDR Quality of life improved after COVID-19, but ongoing health support is needed.
The study assessed the quality of life (QoL) of 304 patients from Northeast Brazil one year after a COVID-19 diagnosis. Despite improvements in QoL, many patients continued to experience symptoms such as anxiety, memory loss, telogen effluvium, respiratory issues, anosmia, and ageusia. The study found significant associations between these symptoms and various domains of the Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36), such as anxiety with pain and memory loss with physical and emotional limitations. The highest QoL scores were observed in males over 60, Catholics, those with primary education, married or in stable unions, with incomes over 4 minimum wages, and living in rural areas. The study concluded that while QoL improved, ongoing health promotion and rehabilitation strategies are necessary for long-term follow-up of COVID-19 patients.
