TLDR Pulsed dye laser treatment was effective for a skin condition resistant to other treatments.
The document reports on a case of Jessner lymphocytic infiltration of the skin (JLIS), a disorder that is often resistant to treatment and may be related to lupus erythematosus (LE). A 48-year-old female patient with a history of erythematous papules that worsened in the summer and did not respond to conventional treatments, including high-potency topical corticoids, tacrolimus, and hydroxychloroquine, was treated with a 595-nm pulsed dye laser. The treatment parameters included a 10-mm spot size, a fluence of 8 J/cm², and a single pulse of 0.5 milliseconds. After one treatment session, the patient experienced complete clearing of all lesions. This case suggests that pulsed dye laser treatment can be an effective option for JLIS, especially in cases where there is no spontaneous remission or when other treatments fail or are contraindicated. The authors recommend considering this treatment for similar patients, although they note that further research is needed to establish its efficacy and safety more broadly.
