TLDR Kids with vitiligo, psoriasis, or alopecia areata are more likely to experience anxiety, depression, and social challenges.
Children and adolescents with chronic cutaneous conditions like vitiligo, psoriasis, and alopecia areata are at increased risk of experiencing adverse psychosocial effects, including anxiety, depression, and loneliness, which also impact their families' well-being. This review highlights the significant quality of life impairments, psychological issues, and social stigmatization faced by these children and identifies specific risk factors such as age and disease severity. It underscores the necessity for enhanced support for these patients and their families and calls for further research on the effectiveness of current interventions aimed at mitigating these psychosocial effects.
