TLDR Changing the pin and cupola setup reduced hair loss in Orthodox Jews using skull-caps.
The study investigated a variant of Alopecia Areata, termed Pseudo Alopecia Areata, caused by the use of specific skull-cap pin fasteners among Orthodox Jews in Israel. Conducted on 37 patients, the study explored non-pharmacological treatment options by altering the pin and cupola configurations. Results showed that using a larger cupola with a different pin type led to improvement in 58.8% of patients in the third group, while the addition of a second pin in the first group resulted in further lesions. The study concluded that conservative pharmacological treatments were ineffective, but modifying the pin and cupola setup successfully reduced hair loss lesions.
