TLDR Linoleic acid (Vitamin F) can help protect against the harmful effects of acrylamide.
In 2019, a study was conducted on female albino rats to examine the protective effects of linoleic acid (Vitamin F) against acrylamide toxicity. Acrylamide, a harmful compound found in various food products and industrial items, caused significant oxidative stress, leading to organ damage and symptoms like weight loss and hair loss. The rats were given acrylamide at a dose of 38.27 mg/kg for 10 days, followed by different doses of linoleic acid for three days. The results showed that linoleic acid effectively mitigated the effects of acrylamide toxicity, reducing symptoms and restoring the activity of antioxidant enzymes. The study concluded that linoleic acid has protective effects against acrylamide toxicity, suggesting further research to evaluate its therapeutic potential.
