TLDR In Freixo de Espada à Cinta, many people have skin lesions, especially moles and acne.
The study conducted in Freixo de Espada à Cinta, Portugal, examined the prevalence of various cutaneous lesions in a sample of 1,000 individuals. Key findings included a high prevalence of melanocytic nevi (81.2%) and androgenetic alopecia (20.5%). The study found significant differences in the presence of certain skin conditions based on sex and age, with females having more nevi than males and an increase in nevi with age. Acne was prevalent in 46.2% of the 15-29 age group. The population had a mean of nine nevi, and solar keratosis was notably higher in those over 60 years old. The study did not find an association between phototype and solar keratosis, contrary to existing literature. Cutaneous tumors were observed in 0.7% of the population.
