TLDR Minoxidil-loaded NLC gel shows potential for effective alopecia treatment.
This document is a scientific study from 9 years ago that aimed to develop a nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) gel containing minoxidil for the treatment of alopecia. The study prepared different formulations of the NLC gel and evaluated their physicochemical properties and drug release behavior. The study found that the NLC-based gel containing minoxidil dissolved in a mixture of solid lipid and liquid lipid in the nanoparticulate form helped attain the objective of faster onset yet prolonged action as evident from in vitro release. Overall, the study suggests that the minoxidil-loaded NLC gel has potential for the effective treatment of alopecia.
