TLDR Recognizing and treating pregnancy-related skin conditions is important to reduce health risks for mothers and babies.
The study focused on dermatoses specifically associated with pregnancy and the postpartum period, highlighting the importance of recognizing and treating these conditions to reduce maternal and fetal morbidity. The most common pregnancy-related dermatosis was polymorphic eruption of pregnancy, affecting 22% of patients. Other conditions included prurigo of pregnancy (7%), pemphigoid gestationis (3%), pruritic folliculitis of pregnancy (2%), and intrahepatic cholestasis (1%). The majority of skin disorders occurred in the third trimester (60%), followed by the second (31%) and first trimesters (9%).

community My Theory Of Androgenic Alopecia

      in Research/Science  17 upvotes 3 weeks ago
Hair loss is linked to cellular physiology and the IGF-1 to TGF-B1 ratio, not just androgen sensitivity. The theory lacks evidence, while finasteride and minoxidil are effective treatments.

community Creatine is the opposite of minoxidil !

      in Research/Science  324 upvotes 1 month ago
Creatine may counteract minoxidil's hair growth effects by closing potassium ATP channels, potentially leading to hair loss in predisposed individuals. Despite anecdotal reports, there is no conclusive evidence linking creatine to hair loss.

The conversation discusses reducing scalp DHT to prevent hair loss, with a focus on using dutasteride, finasteride, and other treatments like RU58841 and minoxidil. It highlights the challenges of managing hair loss while on high testosterone levels, suggesting that dutasteride may be more effective than finasteride in such cases.

Dutasteride significantly reduces scalp DHT levels and can save hair, though shedding is part of the process. Some users report success with dutasteride, while others struggle despite using it along with finasteride and oral minoxidil.
