TLDR Post-COVID-19 syndrome is complex, affects 5%-10% of people, and requires better research and global collaboration for treatment.
This review highlights the complexity and social impact of post-COVID-19 syndrome, affecting 5%-10% of those infected, with higher risks in women, severe cases, and individuals with underlying conditions. Major manifestations include neurocognitive impairment, pulmonary fibrosis, and cardiovascular damage, linked to viral persistence, chronic inflammation, and immune disorders. While vaccination may reduce the risk of sequelae, further evidence is needed. The paper calls for enhanced research, improved diagnostic and treatment systems, and global interdisciplinary collaboration to address these multifactorial health challenges.
