TLDR Long-lasting symptoms like fatigue and breathlessness can persist after COVID-19, requiring ongoing medical follow-up.
The narrative review discusses Post-COVID-19 Syndrome, a condition seen in patients who have recovered from the acute phase of COVID-19 but still experience long-lasting symptoms such as chronic fatigue, breathlessness, depression or anxiety, pain, cough, and alopecia. These symptoms can persist for over 6 months after hospital discharge, with severity depending on the severity of the initial illness. The review highlights the need for ongoing medical follow-up to assess symptom severity and determine the need for further investigation or treatment. Currently, there is no established protocol for managing this syndrome, and the authors advise health professionals to stay updated with new information as it becomes available.
