TLDR Autoimmune Polyendocrine Syndromes involve specific combinations of endocrine and non-endocrine autoimmune diseases.
A 29-year-old woman presented with chest palpitations and had a history of fever, joint pain, hair loss, and malar rash. She had been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism for 4 years and was taking propylthiouracil and propranolol. Laboratory tests revealed abnormal levels of ANA, Anti ds-DNA, C3, C4, Free T3, Free T4, TSHs, and TRAb. She was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Graves' disease and treated with methimazole, propranolol, myfortic, and methylprednisolone. The case highlights that Autoimmune Polyendocrine Syndromes (APS) involve specific combinations of endocrine and non-endocrine autoimmune diseases.
