TLDR Autoimmune Polyendocrine Syndromes involve specific combinations of endocrine and non-endocrine autoimmune diseases.
This case report discusses a 29-year-old woman diagnosed with both systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Graves' disease, highlighting the occurrence of Autoimmune Polyglandular Syndrome Type 3D. The patient presented with symptoms such as chest palpitations, fever, joint pain, hair loss, and a malar rash. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of autoantibodies and abnormal thyroid function. Treatment included methimazole, propranolol, myfortic, and methylprednisolone. The report emphasizes that Autoimmune Polyendocrine Syndromes involve specific combinations of endocrine and non-endocrine autoimmune diseases, rather than random associations.
