Cross-Meta-Analysis on Policosanol Biorefining: An Innovative Technology Prospecting Protocol with Ibero-American Insights

This cross-meta-analysis examines policosanol biorefining, focusing on six extraction routes for cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment. It evaluates literature and patents from 18 Ibero-American countries using bibliometric tools to assess extraction efficiencies and uncertainties. The study highlights advancements in Cuba, Spain, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, and Portugal, and stresses the importance of improved academic-industrial collaboration. It analyzes 16 raw materials, such as lacquer wax and sugar cane wax, categorizing yields into high, moderate, and low, offering guidance for future research and industrial applications.
