TLDR The new device can implant cell mixtures more effectively for hair loss treatment and is easier for operators to use.
The research from 2017 aimed to develop a pneumatic dual-cell implanter to facilitate the implantation of mixtures of dermal papilla cells and epidermal cells, a method found to promote hair follicle regeneration and provide a better treatment for alopecia than hair transplantation. The implanter was designed to stack the cells, control the implanting volume, and reduce the burden on the operator's hand during operation. The device was made up of separate modules, including a cell loading control module, a handheld injection module, and a pneumatic source. The prototype of the implanter was tested by injecting silicone oil and blue ink into a transparent silicone block, demonstrating its ability to successfully implant and stack two fluids in the same area. The handheld injection module weighed only 12 grams, reducing the load on the operator's hand, making it suitable for implantation operations.
