TLDR A homeopathic antidandruff shampoo caused severe hair matting in a girl.
A 16-year-old girl developed Plica Polonica, a rare hair disorder characterized by severe matting, after using a homeopathic antidandruff shampoo containing canthalin. Despite having no history of lice, psychiatric illness, or chemical hair treatments, and maintaining good hygiene, her hair became irreversibly tangled. Attempts to untangle the hair failed, and the only effective treatment was cutting the matted hair. This case is notable as it is possibly only the second reported instance of Plica Polonica linked to shampoo use. The study highlights the importance of cautious use of hair products and consulting dermatologists before applying chemical treatments.
