Plants in Hair Cosmetics

    TLDR Commonly used plants in hair products can guide future research and help professionals recommend treatments.
    The study aimed to analyze hair cosmetic products containing plant-based ingredients to identify the most commonly used plants and their purposes. Researchers examined 259 products from 45 brands available in pharmacies and personal care stores. They found that 182 plants from 70 families were used, with a total of 852 plant inclusions across products. The most frequently used plants were Rosmarinus officinalis L., Lawsonia inermis L., Olea europaea L., Urtica dioica L., and Matricaria chamomilla L. The study concluded that identifying these commonly used plants could serve as a reference for future scientific research and assist healthcare professionals in recommending suitable products for treatment.
