TLDR Garlic gel with betamethasone cream significantly improves hair regrowth in alopecia areata.
The study investigated the efficacy of topical garlic gel combined with betamethasone valerate cream in treating localized alopecia areata. Forty patients were randomly divided into two groups: one treated with garlic gel and the other with a placebo, both receiving betamethasone cream. After three months, 95% of the garlic-treated group showed good to moderate hair regrowth, significantly better than the control group (P = 0.001). No complications were observed, indicating that garlic gel significantly enhanced the therapeutic effect of betamethasone valerate and could be an effective adjunctive treatment for alopecia areata.
